In partnership with The university of California, Santa Barbara, we proudly announce the 2016 Céline Cousteau film fellowship!

About The Fellowship: This summer, 8 fellows will be selected to join award winning filmmaker Céline Cousteau, on a once in a lifetime documentary film expedition.

our fellows will face a wide range of challenges that personally and professionally invoke passion, character and leadership. Framed by our values, passions and ideals, our fellows blend their interdisciplinary backgrounds to best capture and express their findings, experiences and outcomes through film and the arts. The focus of the film: The 2016 Summer fellowship will be focusing on the human elements that impact the wildlife in South Africa, Namibia & Botswana.

Dates & Locations: The 2016 Fellowship is hosted on the UC Santa Barbara campus & begins on June 22nd and ends on August 14th with our field expedition taking us on location to Namibia / Botswana, Africa. The Fellowship culminates with an event and film premier at UCSB. View Full Schedule here!

Who Can Participate?

Each year we accept 8 passionate and talented individuals looking to inspire change in the world. The roles are available to post-graduate, graduate and undergraduate students from around the world who are looking to put a practical experiential application to their formal education. If you have a talent in any of the provided fellowships positions and consider yourself are a "Do'er", this is a program for you.

What is The Céline Cousteau Film Fellowship?

We are an academic leadership program focusing on 3 core elements: 1.) Impacting the lives of our fellows.  2.) Creating awareness for our subject matter.  3.) Inspiring change in our world. While each endeavor creates individual outcomes, collectively they fulfill our mission of empowering filmmakers, creatives and activists to inspire change. *Note: We are a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization

About Céline Cousteau:

Céline S. Cousteau is a French-American explorer, filmmaker, and activist. Daughter of ocean explorer and filmmaker Jean-Michel Cousteau and granddaughter of the legendary Jacques Yves Cousteau, Céline holds a masters in International and Intercultural Management, has worked on over 18 documentaries as presenter and field producer. She is currently the Director of CauseCentric Productions, a member of the World Economic Forum Council on Oceans, Ambassador for The TreadRight Foundation, Ambassador for Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots program, and a Keen Footwear brand ambassador. Céline also sits on the advisory board of The Himalayan Consensus and Marine Construction Technologies and loves hugs. Learn more about Céline here!

Céline Cousteau

Filmmaker, Activist, Public Speaker and Member of the World Economic Forum Council on Oceans are only a few of the attributes & activities that makes this an incredible woman. As the granddaughter of the legendary Jacques Yves Cousteau, she continues as a third generation of explorers and advocates for a better world. 

Jean-Michel Cousteau

Explorer. Environmentalist. Educator. Film Producer. For more than four decades, Jean-Michel Cousteau has dedicated himself and his vast experience to communicate to people of all nations and generations his love and concern for our water planet.

Jennifer Rockefeller Nolan

Jennifer is a passionate conservationist and author of several award-winning children's books focusing on endangered marine life and conservation. She has decades of board experience - ranging from organizations like Maine Audubon to United States Committee for Unicef.

 

Adam Benton

Adam's is currently the director of the program. His role provides many resources to the organization that culminate from his experience in business development and marketing in both the private and non-profit sectors. He is the author of The Acts Of Good Journal and is passionate about making the world a better place. 

Miranda Tollman

Miranda brings experience to the board from her career as a writer and research professional for both print and film.  She is a proud mother of three and spends much of her time supporting organizations focused on education and the arts. She shares with all of us a passion for travel, conservation and protecting wildlife.

Steve Mosko

Steve is the current chairman of Sony Pictures Television, and oversees all television operations for Sony Pictures Entertainment worldwide. His leadership provides an incredible amount of support, direction and experience to our Board of Directors and our organization as a whole.

Sylvan Dove

Sylvan's professional guidance comes from a career as a fund-raising executive and development professional. His experience reaches back to helping raise over 7 million dollars and register 13 million voters to elect Nelson Mandela as the president of South Africa. 

Jon Bowermaster

Writer / filmmaker, six-time grantee of the National Geographic Expeditions Council. Author of 12 books, writer / director of 13 documentary films, all with an environmental story to tell makes Jon an incredible attribute to our Board of Directors. 

Lou Switzer

As the Chairman / CEO of The Switzer Group for over 40 years, Lou provides vision, strategic planning and leadership  to best guide our organization / fellowship for many years to come. The Switzer Group also acts as our interim meeting location for our Board of Directors
